The recipe called for a 4lb roast to cook for 8 hours. Do I simply divide the cooking time in half?

I would cook on low about 5-6 hours. It isn’t a straight conversion for cooking times.

You can divide it or really it depends on how well you want it cooked. Some do like their meat to be a little rare.

Just try it now and then to see if the insides looks as you wish it to be rare wise.

It will be ready in 3-4hrs, but you can keep it going for 8 hrs and it will still be tender.

For conventional cooking, you would indeed cut the cooking time in half, not so with crock pot cooking…….a 2 lb roast will take about 3-5 hrs on high, 6-8 hrs on low…….depends on how “fall apart” you want your roast to be…..Hope this helps, and Enjoy!!!

On low about 6 hours should do the trick. I like mine to cook as long as possible it’s more tender that way. Happy eating!
